I am currently using caddy_2.1.0-beta.1 and when I go to the Download link at the top of the main Caddy site, it brings me to a download page with a pile of Additional packages so do I need any of them for just the standard webserver operation or should I just download version 2.2 from the Forum link above?
No, they’re all entirely optional. Caddy is a powerful server on its own without any plugins.
You can read through the docs to find all the features Caddy provides, and if you choose JSON for configuration, you can find all the plugins documented alongside the stock version of Caddy.
