As v2 is getting closer to release, I’m wondering if there are any plans for packaging v2 for Debian/Ubuntu. Distributing the packages via something like a repo would lower the bar tremendously for new users and would make updating easier and more streamlined (as opposed to downloading the binary every time). I have read the big thread about packaging on this forum, but there hasn’t been activity for more than a year.
There’s been discussion here packaging for Debian ecosystem (Debian/Ubuntu) · Issue #2789 · caddyserver/caddy · GitHub
Most of the packaging/dist code and configs are here: GitHub - caddyserver/dist: Resources for packaging and distributing Caddy
I think @Mohammed90 is working on something right now, still a working in progress.
The hope is to make it available before stable, but packaging is tricky.
