I do not receive the activation email

Hello

I discovered Caddy a few weeks ago and I’m trying to get it working.

I have reached a point where I need help and I decided to write in the community but in the registration I do not receive the activation email.
I have tried several times, in several days and I have checked all the email folders, including SPAM.

I finally logged in with github but I would like to be able to do it with my email.

Strange, I checked SendGrid’s logs for your email and there’s no entries at all. No failures, no attempts, etc.

Discourse email logs similarly have no entries for your email address… :thinking:

So I’m not sure what would have happened. I’ll keep an eye out if others experience this too.

You don’t know me, but I’ve been reading your blog nonstop for a few days, so I’m really excited to finally meet you :slight_smile:

It’s very strange, and I can give you more information.
I’ve registered twice with the same email (soyunplayer@gmail.com) and it let me, but it wouldn’t let me use the same username.

The first username was “nachomagic” and the second was “dourden.”

By the way, today I finally got caddy working :slight_smile: but not the way I’d like, so I’ll post on the forum as soon as I can.

Strange, the only account on our forum with that email address (activated or not) is yours (@nachomagic). There is no user with the username of “dourden”.

Huh… after upgrading Discourse (we do regularly, but this time it failed – @Mohammed90 fixed it, thank you!!), I now see a notice on our admin dashboard:

There are 70373 email jobs that failed. Check your app.yml and ensure that the mail server settings are correct.

This is interesting, since our email provider (Sendgrid) doesn’t show anything abnormal when I log in. In fact it says: “Delivered: 100.00%”

Hmm, although today I now see a banner that says “Your free 60 day trial ended on July 26th, 2025.” – that’s very weird, since we’ve been using this service for like… 7 years? On their free tier. I never logged in and started a trial. Heck, I don’t even think I logged in at all.

… ah, did some research and apparently they ended their free tier (without any warning/notice to us!?) on July 26.

That explains it, and probably nobody is getting emails since then!

Well, sorry folks. We’ll have to find another free email provider in the meantime.

Well, that Sengrid ended their free trial without any warning is not good BUT But it has allowed you to unmask a problem and that is good.
