The private key should be in a .pem file.
It’s just a text file, and it’s contents should start with something like:
-----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY-----

Did what you said to do but no joycaddyfile configuration contains
tls /etc/ssl /etc/ssl
Both certificate and private key from .pem format to .key format key but that didn’t work either is there anything noticeable wrong or sticks out my next step was to
